Monthly Prayer Diary - St Gabriel's Church, Heaton

24th August	Bless Lord all who endeavour to improve our environment, council workers, gardeners, allotment holders, volunteers and all caring for green spaces.
25th	We bring to You Lord the many volunteers giving time and care to small groups and lonely folk in our area, especially through Martha & Mary’s café.
26th	Today we pray for the people of Venezuela, for the bereaved, for the missing and all victims of the earthquake, and the many support agencies striving to bring relief.
27th	We pray for people throughout the world living under occupation by invaders especially the people of Ukraine and Crimea and the Middle East.
28th	We spend today reflecting on the work of Heaton Churches Together and pray for unity and collaboration and for all who work to promote these aims.
29th	May we celebrate the joys of living and working in Heaton, May we always work in promoting an open and welcoming community.
30th	We pray for the mighty and the meek, the powerful and the powerless, the much loved and the difficult to love. Father of all may we see You in all whom we meet.
31st	When they needed a neighbour were we there? Amen

Prayer Diary for September 2026
1st	At this time of new beginnings, we pray for all embarking on new courses, meeting new teachers and classmates, new neighbours or new careers. May they know Your presence in anxious moments.
2nd	May we, Lord, be welcoming and open to all those who are new to our area. May we reflect the warmth of Your love to all we meet. Amen.
3rd	Today, Lord, we pray for every family in Heaton. May we extend familial love to all making a new home in our midst.
4th	Dearest Father, be with those who have no home. May we be always aware and active in our support to their need. We especially pray for residents and staff of Simonside House and the work of all supporting young, homeless folk.
5th	Today we ask awareness of the presence of new neighbours. Bless, Lord, the offers of friendship we extend.
6th	Holy Spirit, breathe Your presence into homes where violence, neglect or envy exists. Bring to each dwelling Your peace and Your gracious presence.
7th	Bless, heavenly Father, families of every kind. May every relationship be worthy reflections of kindness and respect, and all virtues which You bestow on us.
8th	Today we pray. Loving Lord, for the lonely and for those who long for the joy of parenthood. Comfort them and grant them contentment and peace.
9th	We give thanks, Lord, for the great gift of friendship and we remember with gratitude past friends and all we learn together.
10th	We give thanks for the gift of empathy and the part it plays in our opportunities to understand each other.
11th	We pray today for our local schools and colleges – for all who learn and all who teach. Grant to all patience, determination and the pleasure of fulfilment.

12th	For laughter, enthusiasm and good humour, we give thanks.
13th	For all that enriches our lives and gives colour to the beautiful world we inhabit, we praise You.
14th	We pray for the Bells Project, the Organ Restoration Fund and the maintenance of our beautiful church, giving thanks for the tireless work of the PCC and Friends of St Gabriel’s.
15th	Bless, Loving Father, the loving ministry of Jonathan, Sheila and Jon, and all called to ordained ministry.
16th	May we never lose sight of the suffering and needs of all who live in areas of conflict. We especially pray for the people of Ukraine and the Middle East.
17th	For all leaders, we pray. Grant to each wisdom and a desire to bring to their people justice, unity and peace.
18th	Grant to each of us the gift of discernment so that the decisions we make may be based on the needs of those we influence.
19th	At a time when so many areas are suffering from the result of natural and manmade disasters, grant that we all work constantly to improve the lot of the suffering.
20th	We give thanks for life itself.
21st	Creator God, we give thanks for “the beauty of the earth and of the skies, For the love which from our birth over and around us lies”.
22nd	We bring to You, Lord, areas of famine. Especially we pray for the Sudan and all areas where deserts encroach upon farmland. Be alongside all whose crops fail yet again.
23rd	Holy Spirit, breathe upon lands beset by racial or tribal unrest, especially we bring to You the people of Nigeria.

24th	Bless, Lord, all who struggle to make ends meet. We pray especially, Lord, for the unemployed and those whose future feels uncertain, and those on short term contracts.
25th	We pray today for politicians. May they work towards growth through unity, resisting the need to undermine the ideas of others.
26th	Bless, Lord, the work of Heaton Churches Together and our sisters and brothers of Heaton Mosque.
27th	Grant that together we may support the many small businesses that serve our community.
28th	We give thanks for the growth of music in St Gabriel’s and the many lives enriched by the work of Tim in schools, church and the community.
29th	For all green places, we give thanks, and for all who work to preserve the natural world, we ask your blessing.
30th	For each opportunity afforded us during the past month, we give thanks. May we embrace each challenge with enthusiasm and the knowledge that “With You, all things are possible”.
