Choir Club
Choir Club is open to all children aged 5-7 and runs on Thursdays in Term Time from 3.30pm – 5.15pm.
The club is a mix of games, activities and introduction to music and choral singing marrying Kodály technique with the Anglican choral tradition. The children start in the Vestry together for an after school snack then split into smaller groups for the session.
There are end of term performances for parents and families and oppotunuities to get involved in wider St Gabriel’s services. At 7 they are invited to join St Gabriel’s Junior Choir which sing at the Sunday 9.45am Holy Eucharist once a month and are following the Royal School of Church Music’s ‘Voice for Life’ scheme.
Choir Club children joined with Junior Choir and the Church Choir for the Harvest Festival Service to sing Cauliflowers fluffy which went beautifully, and they turned to sing with Junior Choir at the Crib Service on Christmas Eve. We also had a Choir Club and Junior Choir member, Frida, sing the first verse of Once in Royal David’s City at the Nine Lessons and Carols service, which was a fantastic moment for her and for Choir Club and indeed for the Parish.
We wish Choir Club to be accessible to all children in the community but if possible there is a suggestion donation of £5 per session to cover costs.
